Reading Gilgamesh for the first time.
Really enjoying.
But what does the worm leaving Enkidu's nose once dead mean???
The only thing this reminds me of it parasitic aliens that would leave their host after death.
Any comments?

I recall that Egyptian, roman greek etc when they took over a country or changed rulers they would knock the nose of statues as a sign that they had lost their soul, spirit , power

perhaps it a sign of the inner reptilian brain that acts as our survival self and operates the basic functions like breathing heart beat etc
