Hi ya'll -
The bit about being pledged in this episode was scary. The only circumstance under which someone else may pledge you is with your consent, which may be given unconsciously, passively or out of habits borne of old. It's like the Vampires - they cannot come in if one doesn't let them. They make it weirdly easy to let them tho...

Consent may be tricked or coerced out of someone, or it may be given as a child. One may also have agreed to a contract without fully knowing the terms. In these cases, it helps to know that this IS NOT A VALID contract, although entities (and old mental constructs) may forcefully and frighteningly claim it is. There are many other reasons a contract may not be valid - including if it asks for acts contrary to natural law. In a lot of ways, it follows the normal standards of every day human contracts, but with more wiggle room.

Only good will come from dissolving invalid contracts. Do not be fooled by intimidation. Know you are blessed and that the world needs you.
