I don't remember what THC episode it was that was saying Russia got us into space. But I was just watching the DVD special features of Star Trek First Contact. And they have a segment with a guy on the ISS. He says in it that we wouldn't have a space program or have gone to to moon without Washington and Moscow.
It was an old THC episode, but I just heard it recently.
I don't think I could tell anyone I actually know about that😅
